Marketing...

I was unable to make the class last week due to the death of a family friend in Ireland, whose funeral I attended...

Anyway, the week before, when we had no class (there's a pattern emerging), myself and Eranta, the Head of Marketing for my group, discussed some marketing ideas, and tried to narrow down our ideas for the website. We have been talking about some ideas to make our "company" more distinctive, thus making it stand out in the market of web-developers. Why should the company we pitch to choose us? What will we offer them that the others don't? Where will their product be displayed? Who will we be able to introduce them to in terms of other businesses, and who will we attract to the park?

Tune in next week to find out...

Oh well...

Because the University has been closed, our project has been compromised to a great extent, but I believe we have shown commendable resourcefulness in the face of adversity!! I can't believe we didn't get an extension on this...by closing the stores, you have effectively cut the deadline by 3 days (this would have been ample time to do the editing that we needed to). I know that the reply will be that we "should have done the work sooner", but then what was the point of the extension in the first place?

Anyway, we did our work in Adobe After Effects, using the rough images that we captured for the storyboard (these were originally just to give us an idea of what we needed to film), and created the audio in Cubase SX.

We had filmed quite a lot of footage in the "green screen" room, with the intention of animating images in the background and having a good, fun, decent-quality promo...but then we had to hand the camera back to stores (we finished filming on Friday). So we had no way to get the footage from the DV onto the computer! D'oh!

The work we have done is good for the limitations that we had placed on us, but it could have been so much better...the audio is of an unacceptable quality, as a Music Tech student, but it was recorded in a friends bedroom with a loose connection and a dodgy mic!! Every aspect would have been better with access to the proper equipment...

This project has "A" written all over it... ;-)
