Oh yeahhhhh....

I just bought myself a decent memory storage device, by the way, so hopefully now I can save the things that I work on in class (photos, pictures etc.), so I don't just feel like I'm wasting my time when I work on these things, so hopefully this'll motivate me a bit more!! Positive action...negative balance in my bank account, though... *sigh*

Falling behind! Help!!!

I've kind of fallen behind in terms of what I'm supposed to be doing for this module, so I'll have to get back into it...I think it's because I'm a bit daunted by the fact that I know lots of other people are a lot more capable when it comes to using the multimedia software packages than I am, but I'll just have to put in that extra bit of effort this week...I've been caught up in doing my Radio assignments!! Agggghhhh!!! Deadlines are doing my head in...although the football was good tonight...Drogba's goal was class, even though I don't like Chelsea...Man U all the way!!

If anyone else is reading this and wants to get together to try to tell me what I should do, let me know, because I'm a bit lost!! Maybe brainstorm together? All help welcome!!

Where am I?

After last week's lecture, I felt very disheartened by the whole project idea. It was obvious that most people were unclear about what we were meant to be doing, and I find it very difficult to concentrate with so many in the class when people insist on talking while the tutors are trying to tell us about something...and leaving your phones on too...this is extremely disruptive and unacceptable in what is supposed to be mirroring a professional environment. I find it hard enough to understand the stuff that we're meant to be doing without distractions, so please, if you're reading this, TURN OFF YOUR PHONES, PEOPLE!!...I was also made to feel quite stupid by the flippant answer to whether or not we might have a quick workshop on Powerpoint, which I thought was unnecessary...I believe there are other people who have never used this program, not just me...

Anyway, I've been reading over the project brief, with the helpful notes that breaks the tasks of the project down into a comprehensible form. I am past the initial stages of formulating the idea, I believe, although I'm unsure as to what is meant by "storyboarding"...is this just formulating a theme? If so, I've done that already...

I have researched a few websites, including the "Disneyworld", "London Dungeons", and "Alton Towers" sites, which are of varying standards...there was clearly a large difference in quality between the Disney and the "London Dungeons" sites, but this is to be expected from a global company with a substantial budget to hire the best designers to create and maintain their site...I wonder if they fancy doing a bit of voluntary work to help out a poor wee student from Belfast?

I have also thought about the material/content of the Theme Park...How would I present my findings?...Well, when I figure out how to work Powerpoint properly (a friend has already given me a quick tutorial, so big shout out to my buddy Amanda, even though she won't read this...but it's just good Karma, really, isn't it?), I guess I'll use that!...Oh yeah, I've also thought about my audience, and how my site and park would appeal to them, so now it's onto thinking about ways of targeting them through marketing, I suppose...

The ride of your life!

Oh yeah...ok, here we are...

So, I basically brainstormed on the subject of the names of the rides, and then came back and looked at those ideas today to think more feasibly about how these ideas could be made into reality.

For "Old Media" (I'll have to think of a better name for this), I decided to go with something to do with old silent movies (don't want to put too much detail here in case anyone is too lazy or stupid to come up with their own ideas!).

More on the other rides later!...

I got distracted...sorry!

I was going to write this entry 30 minutes ago, but I just downloaded Google Earth as part of my research, and it's brilliant! I just looked at my family home in Belfast, and there was a car driving down the street when the picture was taken, and I was trying to figure out if it was anyone I knew, and I got carried away, and now I'm jabbering on about it, wasting more time, procrastinating, deliberating on what I should actually be writing here kind of like a stream of consciousness with D'Angelo singin in falsetto in the background and the sound of a bus, or buses, in the not-so-distant distance outside my noisy and broken window in my flat...

Ok, down to business...

Let me just go back and look at what I finished up with last time, actually...

*Phew*

Ok, it looks like, after the Facebook Fiasco, this is now hopefully going to be a bit more straightforward (who wants to give out their mobile phone number to randoms on 'social utility networks', as I believe they're called?...though I might be wrong...maybe YOU want to give out your phone number?!...Whatever, like, it's all cool...).

So, the first thing...I don't like the name 'Medialand', and the only other name I can think of at the moment is 'Media Mania'...it'll have to do for now, but I'll change it if I think of anything else...

The first thing I tackled was the nature of my 'themepark'...obviously it has to do with Media, but in what way?...I decided my company would be more similar to somewhere like London Dungeons than, say, Alton Towers.

I started to then think about the actual rides...I basically brainstormed, and used associative images that came into my head as I read the names of the proposed rides...and I'll tell ya about that in my next entry, because I need to go to the toilet now...

See ya soon! Love you long time...B

Just testing at home...

Just seeing if this works here, because it looked different on the Macs in Uni!!

The Facebook Effort...

So...here I am...writing my first blog entry for my Multimedia module assessment...hope it's interesting...we were told to write about how interesting the class was, and to say that we went to the library for 3 hours after class to look up some useful links, but I can't lie...I came home and watched Spongebob Squarepants (after watching a programme about politics...it's all about the balance for me...something heavy, something light...).

Actually, I did watch Blair's conference speech yesterday, and I have to say, I was very impressed, and compelled, by his speech...I thought it was inspirational, watching him modestly speak so eloquently about the problems of the world, and how there's a big responsibility on everyone to acknowledge these global problems, as well as argue his point on why he has stood by Bush (quite honestly stating that the US is such a massive power that to cut off links with them would cut Britain's sway in global affairs...and I do believe that Blair is a lot more conscientious than Bush, so his input into what Bush does is a good thing in my opinion...Keep your friends close, and keep your enemies closer, as they say? Who knows...).

Ok, so I guess I better go and find out what it is that I'm supposed to be writing here instead of just rambling on!

Facebook let me down...

Although I did meet a couple of cool people on there, my efforts on Facebook have gone to waste, it seems, as you have to be a member of Facebook to access my Blog on there...D'oh!!

Ok, so I'm going to copy the entry that I made there onto this page...It's random, but so is life...
