Wish I was in bed...

Today I have been planning the project for my Group Assignment. I have been designated as the Project Manager for the assignment, so I have been coming up with a rough outline as to how the project should go.

First of all, I sat down and sketched out the plot of the narrative for the promo. My group has decided to go with my concept of "The Fabulous Life" interactive media theme park, where every visitor has the chance to "Step beyond the Velvet Rope, and experience the life of a celebrity". So, based on this concept, as well as the other things that I discussed with my group (incorporating the best aspects of each others original concepts and presentations), I have now come up with the rough outline of the story for the promo, and the things we need to include.

I went through my notes from the classes, as well as the notes from the "Madwiki" site, and I took the information that I wanted to include from these sources, and also the guidlines given on website production, colour theory, and project planning. I applied the criteria for the project to our concept, and have now answered most of the questions posed in tems of what the content will be...it's now a matter of discussing with my group how much of it is feasible, and delegating tasks...we have already designated Technical, Design, and Management roles (as is the classical project set-up), but I'm sure these roles will overlap...If we can help each other, then it will only result in a better end-product, so it makes sense, but the tasks assigned to each person will be, ultimately, their responsibility...I'm very confident in my team, though!

I hope to make a Gantt Chart, and have already looked into the possibility downloading some software to facilitate this...It's too late to do that now, though, but the name of the site is "Jpowered.com" if anyone wants to check it out...

I also looked at the "Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0", which had some interesting points about "good practice" in the world of web design...

Ok, I'm boring myself now, so I'm gonna go...My head is totally fried now...On the plus side, I did watch "Flushed Away" today with my niece, which was nice...Actually some "laugh-out-loud" moments for me, which is always a good sign...I'd give it 4/5...Ian McKellan as the Frog is GENIUS!!

Night!

Merry Christmas everyone!

It's Christmas Eve, and I'm organised, which is unusual...it seems strange to me to not be running around like a headless chicken at this point, but things are going pretty smoothly...perhaps a little TOO smoothly...that's why I thought I'd better hedge my bets and prepare for disaster..hence the blog entry when I should be lying watching a movie or something!!

Anyway, I went over my notes today, tried to crystallize the ideas for our group project in my mind, and looked at a few websites concerning "Web Design"..."Elated.com" is a pretty useful page, where I read a little more about Colour Theory, CSS (the programming language), and webpage templates.

Good work done today, I feel, so now I'm off to enjoy Christmas Eve, like any normal person...I can do it with a bit less on my mind now...I really must cut back on the caffeine...

By the way, I would like to say "Thank You" to our lecturers for recognising the need for an extension on this assignment...Very reasonable of you guys!!

Ok, really am gonna go now!! Hope Santa is good to all of ya!!

Hello again...

Hey!!

It's been a while since I've posted anything, but I don't think there's much motivation in me to do this module, unfortunately...This worries me, because I'm usually very diligent, but there seems to be a lack of motivation on the behalf of the lecturers too, I'm afraid to say...I was very disappointed that the lecture was cancelled last week, especially when we have a looming deadline...I think guidance is needed! I know that University is about self-discipline, but it's hard when you turn up for lectures and are told to "do your own thing" most of the time! What's the point in that?! I could do that in my own time...I'm here to learn from the experts...Isn't that the case?

Anyway...I think most people will struggle to get the latest assignment completed...group work over the Christmas period maybe wasn't the best idea, given our varied nationalities...Most people will be at home for at least a week, and I'm sure a lot of people, like me, don't have the facilities at home to produce the kind of things required...I think an extension for the whole class might be needed.

So...tonight I've been reviewing the brief for the next assignment...I have formed my group, thankfully, but we are yet to discuss which idea we will go with...I was happy to see that my idea was in the "Top 10", but I'm also aware that it also depended on who was at your presentation, and I had a few friends there, so I'll wait for my official grade before I get carried away...

I've just had a new idea for an "innovative experience" that we might be able to incorporate into the funfair...If not, it's something I could work towards myself, I suppose!!

Ok, so, in summary, I'm quite anxious about the assignment, and the lack of motivation apparent (in myself as well as others in this module)...I didn't choose this module, by the way...I had no option...However, I will determine from now on that I will regain my focus, and try to make this assignment as interesting as possible...

Seya!!
